Apple, yesterday confirmed that they will start the manufacturing of iPhone SE (2020) in India. Before this phone, iPhone XR got manufactured in India. Apple has already begun manufacturing the iPhone SE 2020 at Apple’s Wistron Plant in Karnataka. Other than iPhone SE(2020), the company is also manufacturing iPhone 11 and iPhone XR in India. “iPhone SE packs our most powerful chip into our most popular size at our most affordable price and we’re excited to be making it in India for our local customers,” Apple stated.
The local assembly of iPhones is an advance to Make in India campaign and it would be advantageous for all users too. The Apple devices which will be made in India won’t cost as much as the imported devices as retailers will no longer have to pay the 20% of tax which is required to ship the smartphone from its global manufacturing facilities. “Made in India iPhone SE 2020 will go sale in the coming weeks albeit with a reduced price.” As per the report.
Reported by Mint, “Apple grew 5% year-on-year in India in the quarter ended June this year. Most of this growth was attributed to strong sales of the iPhone SE (2020), which is probably why Apple wants to move its assembly to the country. Apple’s overall market share in India still remains at around 2%.”
Apple’s contract manufacturers Foxconn, Wistron, and Pegatron had applied for a $6.64 billion (roughly Rs. 49,242 crores) project under the government’s production-linked incentive (PLI) plan, Union Minister, Ravi Shankar Prasad said this in the starting of this month.

The phone is being praised as the most “pocket-friendly” iPhone, which was launched in India for Rs. 42,500 for the 64GB variant.Rs. 47,800 and Rs. 58,300 for the 128GB and 256GB respectively. As far as the design is worried, the iPhone SE (2020) feels dense and has a glass front and back with an aluminum frame.

In the camera department, the phone features a 12-megapixel rear camera with f/1.8 aperture. The camera includes the Portrait mode, along with six Portrait Lighting effects and Depth Control. On the front, the phone has a 7-megapixel camera, which is also capable of taking amazing portraits using machine learning and one-eyed depth estimation.
